Renee Gerardo is a dancer and artistic director of Renee Gerardo/ Dances and has performed and presented work in NYC over the past 17 years in projects of her own and others. Renee recently had the pleasure in performing in an all feale showcase “Women Rising” under direction of Erika Latta in a dance work “Artificial Eden”. (Nov.2017) She was seen in waxfactory’s “Pull Yourself Together”#soiree (a work in progress) at Lincoln Center’s David Rubenstein Pavilion (Aug. 2017). Renee’s evening length work premiere, “the meantime”, was presented as part of Triskelion Arts Winter Season in February 2017. Renee and her company performed as part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of “I Heart Gibney” in February 2016 at Gibney Dance Center, a performance series that supports local charities. Past projects include “return” an evening length quartet and Part 3 of a movement trilogy (May 2016), presented in Take Root at Green Space NYC, “mid-land” an evening length work and Part 1 of the trilogy, presented at the Split Bill Series at Triskelion Arts, (December 2015), “pines” a trio that is Part 2 in the trilogy, shown as part of a shared bill with works of four other companies at Triskelion Arts. (TempoRarely, July 2015). Renee has also presented at WAX Works (March 2015 and January 2014), Brooklyn Arts Exchange Upstart Festival (February 2015) Spoke the Hub(December 2013), an evening length solo in the OneAct Solo Festival (2005) and Dixon Place’s Emerging Artist series at Dance Theater Workshop (2004). Renee Gerardo is a fiscally sponsored artist through Fractured Atlas since 2014 and was a recipient of a space grant through Fourth Arts Block NYC. Renee has had the pleasure to learn, work, and perform with Kathleen Hermesdorf, Albert Mathias, Erin Carlisle Norton and The Moving Architects, waxfactory (Erika Latta and Ivan Talijancic) Martha Myers, David Dorfman, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, Alexandra Beller, Sean Curran, Donnell Oakley, Jenna Riegel, Christina Robson, Kendra Portier, Marissa Nielsen-Pincus, Tom Pearson, whiteroad/dance media and April Biggs and Company. Renee has her BFA in Dance from University of Colorado and her MA in Exercise Physiology from Columbia University.
